Here is Something to think about for this month - Is It Material? Accountants have a term (now hang on, keep reading!) which they use when they are examining the situations of companies - "material." In this context, material means "Of sufficient importance or relevance as to have possible significant influence on an outcome." When you are thinking about decisions, are you spending your time on "material" decisions? I like to find a bargain as much as the next person, and I know I sometimes get caught up in finding the "best deal" and spend an inappropriate amount of time saving a few dollars. Sometimes it can be time, sometimes money, and sometimes simply mental effort that we use up on immaterial things. Decision making tools are helpful when pondering complex decisions, but for small decisions it is often more effective just to decide. Make sure you're spending your mental effort on material decisions. Good Thinking! Randy Park Please forward this tip to others who might find it helpful.
